New nematode tolerant varieties in Denmark

Now Danish beet growers can choose nematode tolerant sugar beet varieties without jeopardising the yield.

We are pleased to announce that Maribo Seed have two test varieties, CACTUS and BELVISTA, on the Danish recommended list for 2011. Both varieties have performed very well in tests in the past two years.

With CACTUS and BELVISTA, beet growers can avoid expensive nematode analyses and still be certain of a high sugar yield.

On both infested and non-infested soil, the two varieties yield above average. On non-infested soil they both yield 102 (compared to an average of 100). On infested soil, CACTUS yields 119 and BELVISTA 115 compared to the standard variety.
